Photo tips for a bride's biodata
- Use a recent photo, taken in the last six months, so there are no surprises when families meet.
- Choose daylight or soft indoor light and a plain wall behind you. Avoid heavy filters.
- A saree, salwar suit or kurti in a solid colour photographs well; keep jewellery simple.
- Crop from the shoulders up. In the editor you can zoom and move the photo to fit the round or arch frame.
- Only one photo goes on the biodata. If families ask for a full-length picture, send it separately on WhatsApp.
Not ready to share a photo yet? Every design works without a photo.
Expectation lines you can use
Keep expectations short and polite. A few examples:
- "Looking for a well-educated, settled boy from a cultured family."
- "Preferably a working professional based in Pune or Mumbai."
- "Should be supportive of my career; I plan to continue working after marriage."
- "Vegetarian family preferred."
- "Open to a match within Maharashtra or abroad."
- "Education: graduate or above; caste no bar for the right match."
- "Looking for a kind, understanding partner who values family."
Lines for working professionals and NRIs
If you work, make the occupation line specific: "Senior Associate, KPMG, Gurugram (hybrid)". Mention whether you are open to relocating: "Open to relocating after marriage". For NRI girls, add the country and visa status in one line, for example "Data Scientist, Toronto, Canada (Permanent Resident)", and whether you plan to settle in India or abroad. Families appreciate that clarity up front.
Choosing the right design
Soft palettes such as Rose Petal, Lavender Bloom and Peacock Grace are popular for brides. They use a round or arch-shaped photo frame and graceful headings. If your family prefers a traditional look, try Kesari Classic or Maroon Heritage with the Ganesha symbol and "|| Shree Ganeshaya Namah ||".

Muslim girl biodata
For a Muslim bride, choose the Muslim preset in the Design tab. It adds "Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem" at the top, a crescent symbol and a sect/maslak field, and removes the horoscope section. Read the full Muslim marriage biodata format for wording tips.
A free Canva alternative for biodata
Many people search for a "biodata for girl Canva" template. Canva is great for general design, but you start from a generic layout and type every label yourself. Marathi Biodata Make starts with biodata fields already in place, has dropdowns for rashi, nakshatra and height, types Hindi and Marathi in Devanagari, and always fits one A4 page. The free templates are free to download with no watermark.
Make the biodata in five minutes
- Open the biodata maker. The fields for a bride's biodata are ready; fill in the ones that apply and hide the rest.
- Upload your photo and use zoom and position to fit it into the frame.
- In the Design tab, choose a template and colour, and set the top line, such as "|| Shree Ganeshaya Namah ||".
- Check the preview on your phone screen, then download the PDF for printing, a JPG for WhatsApp or a Word file for later edits.
English, Hindi or Marathi?
Pick the language the other family is most comfortable reading. English works well for families in cities and abroad. For grandparents or relatives in the native place, a Hindi or Marathi version often lands better; you can make one in the Hindi biodata maker or the Marathi biodata maker and type in English to get Devanagari automatically. Many families keep both versions ready.
Writing tips
- Mention your qualification and current work clearly. Families often read this line first.
- Keep hobbies short: two or three genuine interests are enough.
- If you work in another city, say so in the occupation line to avoid confusion later.
Sharing and printing
For WhatsApp, send the PDF or JPG to the parent who asked for it rather than posting it in large groups. For printed copies, print the PDF on A4 paper in colour, ideally on 100 GSM or thicker paper, at 100% scale. If a relative wants to change something later, keep the Word file handy, or simply reopen the biodata on the same device and download again.
When you are ready, create the biodata and download it as PDF, JPG or Word.
