Why families look for a muhurat
For most Hindu families the wedding date is not picked from the calendar alone. The purohit looks for a day when the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana are favourable, when Guru (Jupiter) and Shukra (Venus) are visible, and when the Sun is not in a month that tradition keeps free of weddings. A day that passes these checks is called a shubh vivah muhurat. The final lagna time is then matched to the couple's horoscopes, which is why no website can replace your family purohit.
What a list like this can do is save you time. Once you know which dates are generally auspicious, you can check hall availability, travel and leave for relatives, and go to the purohit with two or three options instead of a blank calendar.
How to use the tool
- Choose the panchang tradition. The North India list follows the Hindi panchangs. The Maharashtra list follows Marathi panchangs; right now its dates are marked "not yet confirmed" (see below).
- Tap a month chip. The number on each chip is how many confirmed dates that month has.
- Open a month to see each date with its weekday, nakshatra, tithi and the muhurat window for New Delhi. Dates that have passed are greyed out and the next one is highlighted.
- Press Copy list to paste the whole list into a family WhatsApp group.
How we compiled the dates
We compared Drik Panchang, Prokerala, Birthastro, Shubh Panchang, GaneshaSpeaks and lists published by Aaj Tak, IND24, Zee 24 Taas and News18. A date is shown as confirmed only when Drik Panchang lists it and at least one independent calculation or news list agrees. Sites that simply copy Drik's list are shown but not counted. We also re-checked every nakshatra against an astronomical ephemeris.
Dates that only one source gives are kept in a separate, folded "only one panchang" list. Where a source clearly disagreed, we say so: one Rajasthan astrologer quoted by ETV Bharat, for example, gives no wedding dates at all between mid-July 2026 and 23 January 2027.
| Month | Confirmed dates |
|---|---|
| Nov 2026 | 21, 24, 25, 26 |
| Dec 2026 | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 |
| Jan 2027 | 15, 18, 19, 24, 26, 27, 31 |
| May 2027 | 17 dates, the busiest month |
| Aug–Oct 2027 | none |
Periods with no muhurat
- Chaturmas – from Devshayani Ekadashi to Devuthani (Prabodhini) Ekadashi. In 2026 it ends on Friday 20 November, so the season starts on 21 November. In 2027 it runs from 14 July to 10 November.
- Kharmas / Dhanurmas – while the Sun is in Sagittarius, roughly 16 December to Makar Sankranti (14 January). There is a second Kharmas when the Sun is in Pisces, 15 March to 14 April 2027.
- Holashtak – the eight days before Holika Dahan (21 March 2027). In 2027 it falls inside the Pisces Kharmas anyway.
- Shukra ast and Guru ast – when Venus or Jupiter is too close to the Sun. Venus is combust from 21 July to 9 September 2027, which is one reason August and September 2027 are empty.
- Simhastha Guru – Jupiter is in Leo from 31 October 2026 to 24 January 2027, and again from late June to late November 2027 (the Nashik Kumbh year). The Muhurta Chintamani restricts weddings in this period between the Ganga and the Godavari. Many panchangs still give dates, so the tool shows them with a caution note. Ask your purohit what your family follows.
Worked example
A family in Delhi wants a December 2026 wedding. The tool shows 2–6, 11 and 12 December, then Kharmas from 16 December. They note that the 11 December muhurat is in the early hours of the 12th, so they shortlist 5 and 12 December and take both to their purohit.
Before the season
Families usually exchange biodata months before the wedding season. Make your biodata free, check kundali matching (gun milan), and when the date is fixed, design the card with our wedding invitation maker. More free tools are on the biodata tools page.
Frequently asked questions
Which are the vivah muhurat dates in November and December 2026?+
After Devuthani Ekadashi on 20 November 2026, the confirmed dates are 21, 24, 25 and 26 November and 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11 and 12 December 2026. Kharmas begins on 16 December.
Why are there no wedding dates in August, September and October 2027?+
Chaturmas runs from 14 July to 10 November 2027, and Venus is combust (Shukra ast) from 21 July to 9 September 2027. Most panchangs give no wedding dates in this stretch.
Are these dates valid for my city?+
The dates are broadly the same across India, but the muhurat window changes with sunrise and location. The times shown are for New Delhi. Your purohit will give the exact time for your city and horoscopes.
Why does the Maharashtra list say 'not yet confirmed'?+
We only mark a date confirmed when two published sources agree. For November 2026 onwards we have found only one Marathi list so far. We will add the dates once Marathi panchang lists are published.
Is it all right to marry during Simhastha Guru?+
Traditions differ. The Muhurta Chintamani restricts it between the Ganga and the Godavari, while many panchangs still list dates. Follow your family purohit's advice.
